MY BACKGROUND, EXPERIENCE AND PHILOSOPHY
I am originally from Denmark in Europe. I have been in the United States for over 25 years now. I speak 4 languages: Danish, English, German and Spanish.
I received my Bachelor's degree in Spanish from Montclair State University and a Master's Degree in Educational Technology from NJCU. I enjoy working with technology, both in and out of the classroom.
I taught Middle School Spanish for my first 6 years as a teacher. Since September 2015 I have been teaching K-8. I love bringing other cultures and traditions into my classrooms as I am a strong believer that knowledge and awareness of other's beliefs, customs and backgrounds are key to becoming a more accepting and informed global citizen.

Foreign language class should not just be about conjugating verbs and memorizing vocabulary. You have to guide students towards understanding the connections between
the language, history, the traditions and the people.
The Foreign language classroom should be relaxed and informal to create an environment where students feel at ease and open towards learning about unusual, different and sometimes awkward topics. The foundation for strengthening foreign language skills begins with motivation and building confidence that the student is capable of success.
Not everyone will become fluent in another language and not everyone wants to!
The lessons learned about culture, pronunciation and grammar will provide lifelong skills that students can draw on in many other subjects and life events.
